Project Overview
Part of the Modern Earth design project, this living room expands on the same grounded palette and modern energy as the adjacent bedroom. The clients wanted a sophisticated yet approachable living space — one that felt organic, layered, and visually connected to the rest of the home.
This design bridges comfort and refinement: a gathering space that balances earthy warmth with clean architectural detail.
Design Vision
The inspiration behind this living room was the beauty of contrast — between natural textures and sculptural modern finishes. We paired stone, wood, and velvet with sleek brass accents and bold color blocking to create a cohesive, contemporary look.
The color palette flows from deep green and rust to ivory and black — tones that feel rich and grounded without overpowering the space. Every element is tied together through texture and proportion, creating harmony across the open-concept layout.
Feature Wall: Statement in Stone

The focal point of this room is the floor-to-ceiling marble-effect feature wall — a high-impact visual moment that defines the entire living area. The natural veining introduces movement and depth, making it the perfect backdrop for the mounted television and floating media shelf.
This approach allowed us to bring in a luxurious architectural statement without the structural constraints of real stone installation — achieving the same sophistication with cleaner lines and greater flexibility.
Layout & Furnishings

The open floor plan required a layout that visually anchors the space while maintaining flow to the dining and kitchen areas.
  • Seating: A tailored neutral sofa paired with rust velvet armchairs and a deep green chaise creates layers of tone and texture.
  • Tabletop Styling: Moss accents and sculptural décor add organic life without cluttering the clean lines.
  • Symmetry & Scale: Pillow groupings and balanced furniture placement keep the composition refined and inviting.
This layout encourages conversation while preserving clear pathways — perfect for entertaining or relaxing evenings at home.
Color & Material Story

We built the color story to feel cohesive yet multidimensional.
  • Base: Neutral upholstery and wall color establish a timeless foundation.
  • Accent: Deep green and rust tones introduce warmth and sophistication.
  • Metallics: Brass armchairs and lighting fixtures add a subtle gleam that elevates the natural palette.
  • Textures: Knit throws, velvet, and layered linen drapery soften the structure and enhance comfort.
The overall result feels curated, tactile, and intentionally understated.
Lighting & Atmosphere
Lighting plays a key role in maintaining balance across the room. Simple globe pendants and warm ambient sources keep the space inviting while highlighting the marble texture and surrounding greenery. The floor-to-ceiling drapery filters natural light beautifully, enhancing the warmth and softness of the palette.
